I get the opportunity to see the difference between Millenials and GenZs on a nearly daily basis. Here’s a GenZ tidbit that blew my mind. I asked my 15 year-old to go across the street and put a package in the mailbox. He came back 30 seconds letter

“The box is locked,” he said.

“The box is never locked, ” I said.

I proceeded to explain to him how to open a United States mailbox. You know. The big blue mailboxes scattered about on corners. The ones that have a handle that you pull down, place a letter in, and close.

“I can’t believe you don’t know how to use a mailbox,” I said.

“My generation doesn’t use mail,” he said.

That’s when it hit me that they don’t. The only time he writes anything to be mailed is when I force him to write thank you notes after Christmas. And then, I post the mail, not him. He wouldn’t even know to leave it attached to the outside of our mailbox for the postal worker to take. I’m sure this is a GenZ thing. Millennials know how to use the mailbox. I think.
